What accommodations should be in a 504 plan for ADHD in elementary school?

My 8-year-old has ADHD. His grades are okay, but he is losing recess, missing instructions, and coming home ashamed every day. The school offered a 504 meeting. What accommodations are actually useful?

Useful 504 accommodations are the ones tied to the actual problem. For ADHD, parents often ask about written directions, chunked assignments, movement breaks, preferential seating, check-ins before independent work, reduced-copy demands, extra time when attention is the barrier, and a plan that avoids taking recess as punishment. Bring examples from home and school. If he needs specialized instruction, behavior goals, or related services, ask whether an IEP evaluation is also appropriate.
