About Special Needs Forum
Special Needs Forum exists because finding straight answers as a special needs parent is exhausting. The information you need is scattered across agency websites written in jargon, Facebook groups that vanish into the scroll, and offices with six-month waitlists. Meanwhile, the parent two towns over already figured out exactly what you're facing — you just have no way to ask them.
This is that way to ask them.
What we cover
Everything families navigate after (and before) a diagnosis: IEPs and 504 plans, choosing between public placements and special needs schools, ABA and other therapies, evaluations and testing, insurance appeals, Medicaid waivers, and the day-to-day reality nobody writes guides about.
How this community stays trustworthy
- Human moderation. Every new member's first posts are reviewed by a person before they appear. Spam and sales pitches don't make it through.
- Professionals are labeled. When a BCBA, special education teacher, or advocate answers, their background is shown next to their name.
- No ads, no data selling. We ask for an email address to sign in, and that's it. See our privacy policy.
- Clear limits. Nothing here is medical, legal, or financial advice — it's shared experience and general information. See our disclaimer.
Who can join
Parents, caregivers, grandparents, self-advocates, and the professionals who serve them — teachers, therapists, evaluators, attorneys, and financial planners. If you work in the field, you're welcome to answer questions; just disclose your role and skip the promotion. Read the community guidelines before your first post.
