How to get funding for special needs equipment and AAC devices

AAC device funding usually comes from more than one place. Start with the manufacturer's funding list, your state assistive technology (AT) program, and diagnosis-specific foundations. If the device is needed for school communication, ask the IEP team about educational responsibility. None of this is fast, but families do get devices covered this way.

Grants are real but piecemeal. UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation helps some families if you are eligible. Local disability nonprofits, civic groups, and community fundraisers fill gaps too.

For therapy equipment like a safety bed, use the same folder: evaluation, denial letter, quote, prescription, and a short note on why your child needs it. Rules and waitlists vary by state, so bookmark your state AT program website first.
